This Ridgid 18V subcompact brushless 1 2 inch impact wrench kit stands out as a compact, lightweight option for wheel swaps and everyday automotive work. It has enough power for passenger car lug nuts, non frozen fasteners, brakes, sway bar links, and even some corroded bolts, while feeling easier to use than heavier impacts. The included 2 amp hour battery makes the kit especially handy. The main caveat is warranty coverage, since the listing shows a 3 year warranty and LSA depends on registration within 90 days.

Common Questions (4)

  • The kit is covered by Ridgid's standard 3-year warranty, and it can qualify for the Lifetime Service Agreement if registered within 90 days of purchase. DTO and Home Depot purchases are both eligible for LSA registration.

  • At $99 shipped, it is described as the lowest price seen in the last 12 months for a brushless subcompact unit. The deal is also framed as decent for light work, though some note Home Depot sales can run lower and the kit's warranty details matter.

  • Yes. It can remove passenger-car lug nuts and is described as perfect for swapping wheels, including around 129-130 lb-ft. It may hammer longer than mid- or high-torque impacts on stubborn fasteners, but it still gets them off.

  • It has plenty of power for non-frozen, non-rusted car fasteners and commercial mower work, but heavily corroded or over-torqued bolts can be a tougher ask. One report says it even handled heavily corroded exhaust bolts, so it can punch above expectations on some seized hardware.

"Blemished" Ridgid products from DTO qualify for LSA just like your Ridgid purchases from Home Depot. Many of us have been doing this for years.

As far as "blemished" goes, every single blemished Ridgid tool I have gotten is brand new.
Not sure if they changed policy or it's a typo, but under "product details" in the DTO listing, it does say 3-year warranty.

The 3-year warranty in the product details refers to the standard warranty that comes with the item itself. You keep your receipt as your proof of purchase, You're covered for 3 years without having to do anything.

With that said, you're still eligible with the Lifetime Service Agreement, which requires you to register the item within 90 days of your purchase (from DTO or Home Depot). This is totally optional but obviously most of us have chosen Ridgid simply because of LSA.

Edit:
This is the web page that gives you more accurate info about LSA and the 3-year warranty: https://register.ridgidpower.com/about_lsa

I understand all that, but in the past DTO put the LSA on the product page, not the 3-year warranty. Not sure why they would change that.

That's a fair point. I didn't even notice it.

Once I get my delivery next week, I'll have it registered and update you.

For your reference, I bought the job site fan back in March. I was able to get LSA. The current product page is consistent with your observation, with 3 year warranty and no mentioning of LSA.

For those who placed an order, my order "shipped" out of South Carolina on September 30 with a FedEx tracking number. FedEx history indicated that it hasn't received the package. I reached out to DTO this morning. DTO support has just responded that there's a delay in processing orders.

I'm not a fan of this particular tool and was able to resell it basically for money back. I found it to be too weak despite youtube reviews showing it stronger than advertised. I'd only be a buyer again if I found it at HD at a sick clearance price with or w/o a battery. Even then, it would just sit w/ all the other tools I never use. For comparison, the milwaukee gen 3 is 550 ft/lbs while smaller and lighter w/ the best price in the 160 range. Now the Gen TWO Milwaukee is comparable to this smaller and lighter AND in about the same price range used on eBay for what that's worth. For everyone talking about warranty... I never had anything break so until I do.. I will discount warranty.
