Shun makes really good knives, but they are not as durable as your typical German blades.

Pro knife sharpeners joke that all their profits come from grinding the chips out of Shun edges.

Don't ever leave them out for guests to use, and never put them in the dishwasher or they get rust spots.

Really, don't put any fine knives in the dishwasher (I know, everyone does).
