Comparing to the hardcovers in this other hardcover set: The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings Illustrated by Alan Lee Box Set (Hardcover)
This edition of hardcovers has worse paper (not even sure if it's acid free -- feels cheap and rough, while LotR is obviously acid-free smooth cream paper), worse hardcover, worse binding (LotR is sewn, Dune is glued), decent dust jacket. That LotR box set deal was absolutely a steal for the quality you got. This one is just cheap for a hardcover but it's not a high-quality hardcover. The minimum I'd say for high-quality would be at least a sewn binding and acid free.
