I feel that this is a unique example of little changed from the book to the movie, but just condensed. There was definitely some good stuff left out going into the movie. I feel that either of his two book to movie adaptations can be read after watching. The worst part I'd see is that it's more difficult to cast the character in your mind if you've already seen the movie.
