This is a direct thermal shipping label printer aimed at small businesses that print a lot of packages. The labels are reported to look good and the printer is easy to use, and the Bluetooth setup can be bypassed with a continuously running server for AirPrint style printing. The main drawbacks are durability and compatibility concerns, since direct thermal labels can fade with heat and time, the roll size may not fit UPS rolls, and the connection can drop after a few hours. A practical pick if you want simple shipping labels and can live with the format limits.
Common Questions (4)
Yes, direct thermal labels can fade because heat changes the print. They are best for temporary shipping labels or other uses that won't be exposed to much heat; for long-lasting, UV-resistant labels, thermal transfer is the better choice.
It can be a good fit for a small business that ships a lot, but some shoppers prefer used Zebra ZP450/ZP500 or other thermal printers for better reliability and broader roll compatibility. If you want a cheaper alternative, there are also thermal printers around $35 without the LCD screen.
It uses direct thermal labels, and the rolls are described as standardized rather than proprietary. The main compatibility concern raised is physical roll size: the printer's roll compartment may be too small for some UPS rolls.
It can lose its PC connection after a few hours and may need to be power-cycled to reconnect. A workaround is to turn it off when finished, and AirPrint-style use is possible if you keep a server running all the time.

I have a few old TLP2844 printers that are still working perfectly after 10 years with me. I bought them used from a medical office when they upgraded.
I'm sure newer models exist.
