On another note, I didn't see any adapters on eBay that fit other platforms, other than one with two wires sticking out that would need to be modified to work with other tools. That one costs about $30.
My theory on these deep discounts is the batteries have now sat on the shelf long enough to risk having self discharged below the critical threshold to where you cannot recharge them. Toro batteries will refuse to charge and the charger flashes the red error light if the battery indicator reaches zero bars.
This happened to me with the Toro leaf blower + 4AH battery. Brand new out of the box, the battery indicator lit up and worked, but showed zero bars, and couldn't charge. When I exchanged, the next new battery had only one bar remaining. Brand new out of the box. Their batteries are shipped with two to three bars of charge, but slowly self discharge over the years.
Otherwise perfectly healthy battery. More of a design flaw with the chargers. You can jump the battery with another battery to get the discharged battery back above the threshold, to then resume normal charging. So it's still a killer deal.

FYI, the one i just picked up from Lowes had a date code of 0123 (Jan 2023), which means it is over 3 years old. not ideal. It looked new and charged fine, you still get a 3 year warranty, but i'd rather not buy this battery that is sitting on a shelf for 3 years. they must be blowing out old stock of these.
