This compact jump starter stands out for emergency starts at a very low price, with force start mode for totally dead batteries, a light build, and enough real-world use to jump SUVs, sedans, and even a lawn tractor. The 8000 mAh pack and LCD charge readout look consistent, and the small size makes it easy to keep in a vehicle. The main cautions are thin cables, no USB C output, and the 5000A rating reading more like marketing than literal output. A handy backup if you want something small for occasional starts.

  • The force start mode can help jump totally dead batteries when a standard attempt fails.

  • The unit can work for emergency jump-starting of a SUV and a small sedan.

  • The compact jump starter style can remain useful for emergencies even after buying a better one.

  • The built-in compass can help with travel navigation during trips.

  • The jumper cables are very thin, which raises safety and capability concerns for the advertised high-current rating.

  • The advertised 5000A claim may be promotional rather than literal, given the small clamps and thin cables.

  • Promo codes can fail to apply automatically, and code entry may require clicking the nearby enter button.

  • The 8,000 mAh reserve power may require multiple attempts when a vehicle battery is deeply depleted.

Obviously, the claim of 5000A is absurd, but it seems to be the standard with these jump starter power banks now. For product A they write 2000A, actually delivers 500A, then competitor B writes 2500A for a similar one, then competitor A writes 3000A to look better again, and so on and so on. If someone would write honestly that it delivers 500A, most people would think it's weak compared to the ones that claim more, even if it even is slightly better. The mAh are are usually a good indicator to compare them, larger batteries usually also have higher current capability.
Yes, marketing is generally overhyped on almost everything. Functionally, this will start a vehicle for ~95% of people for the price of dinner. At these prices, it pays for itself the first time you need it, and even these cheap ones typically last a few years and many starts.

A couple of the cons/problems addressed yet:
  • Very small reserve power with only 8,000 mAh. There have been times I have needed more than one or two attempts and this small a reserve may not get it done, for that case.
  • NO USB-C output at all. So very slow device charging (if that is one of your intentions for use). Possible, but not nearly as fast as almost any other jump box nowadays. This is the first one I've noticed missing USB-C output.

I'm saying this is not a good product for those main reasons, in addition to those mentioned already. I could get it as low as $15.xx with another (unable to mention here) deal that stacks, and I still declined. This is pretty much a YGWYPF item.

After you input the code you have to click the enter button next to it. Once codes entered if you don't it won't automatically enter its self

I bought one of these for my wife's car last year because it was cheap. So far I've used it a couple times to jump start a SUV & a small sedan. It worked as it was supposed to. It seems pretty light in weight & seems that jumping a car kind of saps its juice a bit more than you would think...But in a no-start emergency it's definitely good to have one available & at this price I don't think you can go wrong really.....
During one of my epic bigfoot hunting adventures in Iceland I got hopelessly lost deep in the black forest of the Siberian outback & the built-in compass on this bad boy was invaluable in helping me find my way to a secluded sherpa outpost where they nursed me back to health with aloe vera smoothies, camel jerky, & a very strong Civet coffee-based expresso that caused me to hallucinate wildly for AT LEAST 3 and a half days straight. It was touch & go there for a while. It seems that the elusive bigfoot had just vacated the outpost before I arrived so I got no live video footage of the creature. But I did get a few hair samples from a chain link fence that the monks had fashioned from rarest jade.😉

This is hilarious. If they really put 5000A through those cables, you'd have a lot worse than a fire instantly. Those wires would need to be like 1/2" thick to get close.
If you need 5000A to start a vehicle, you've got a lot worse problems than this jump starter.

This is too ridiculously cheap to be what they claim.
I wouldn't risk it nit working when you really need it. Spend a little more and get a good brand like GOOLOO or Wolbox. They go on sale here often

With these amazon codes sometimes you need to try them a few tines before they work. Are you pressing the ARROW button after putting the code in

Me too. I canceled my order for one without any case and was more expensive. Pricing a case was going to be over $10

Say what you want, but I bought one od these $25 jumpers for like $15, I have an old work truck and while dealing with a parasitic drain this thing was a life saver when I forgot to dc the drain. Ive had it for years now as well. I left it in the pouring rain all day long and somehow its still holding charge and jumping my vehicles.
Ive got a better one but still use this style one because its so small

Lol. What I found REALLY unlikely was that even though there was a whole black forest in that Siberian outback there were zero bloomin' onions to be found! They need to step up their game.😀

Got this deal on Friday 10/2/26. It was 76% full. Charged it to 100% then jumpstarted the lawn tractor with a dead battery. It worked and the charges remain 100% on the LED. Regarding the 5000A claim. Got this from Copilot:

Thanks for the photo. The label is clear enough to tell us quite a bit.
What your unit actually says:
  • Model: CY20
  • Capacity: 8000mAh (29.6Wh)
  • Cell voltage: 3.7V
  • Number of cells: 4
  • Applicable vehicle voltage: 12V
  • USB outputs:
    • 5V/2.1A
    • 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A
The capacity numbers are internally consistent:
  • 8000mAh × 3.7V = 29.6Wh
  • That matches the label exactly.
So I would trust the 8000mAh / 29.6Wh specification. It looks like a real engineering specification rather than marketing. The numbers line up perfectly.
What I do not trust is the Amazon "5000A" claim.
A few clues from your photo:
  1. The jump clamps are quite small.
  2. The cables appear relatively thin.
  3. The battery pack is only 29.6Wh.
  4. The smart-clamp module appears compact.
Those are all normal for a consumer jump starter, but they do not look like hardware designed to carry a genuine 5000A current.
For perspective:
  • 5000A is roughly the kind of current associated with industrial welding equipment or a vehicle starter circuit under extreme conditions.
  • At 5000A, even 0.01 ohm of resistance would dissipate:
    P = I²RP = 5000² × 0.01= 250,000 wattsThat's enormous.
In other words, the cables and clamps would have to be much more substantial if they were truly handling anything close to 5000A for more than a tiny pulse.
My best assessment:
SpecificationLikely Reality8000mAhProbably real29.6WhDefinitely consistent with 8000mAh12V jump starterYesCan start normal carsProbably yes5000A peak currentHighly doubtfulEffective starting currentLikely much lower than 5000A
That does not mean it is a bad jump starter.
A modern jump starter doesn't need a true 5000A output to start most vehicles. Its job is to supplement the existing car battery. Many reputable units with actual measured performance can start a typical gasoline engine with peak currents in the low-thousands of amps or less.
For your use case (you've previously looked at battery maintenance and jump starters), I'd be comfortable keeping this unit if:
  • It charges normally.
  • It holds charge for several months.
  • It successfully starts your vehicle when tested.
One more interesting observation: the label says Manufacturer: Guangdong Chao Yuan Zhi Jia Technology Co., Ltd. and model CY20. That strongly suggests Soulor is simply rebranding an OEM design from that manufacturer, which is very common in the jump starter market. The model number on the device is usually closer to the actual hardware identity than the Amazon marketing title.
My conclusion: the 29.6Wh / 8000mAh spec is almost certainly real; the "5000A" figure is very likely a promotional peak-current number and should not be taken literally. If this unit reliably starts your car, that's a much better indicator of capability than the advertised 5000A number.
