Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium Plus Pack is a feature rich smart thermostat bundle that stands out for app control, Apple Home integration, and the ability to average temperature across the thermostat and two SmartSensors. The adjustable temperature differential down to 0.5 degrees can make rooms feel steadier than a Nest, and the included sensors are worth about $50 each on their own. Installation is easy with a C wire, but can get more involved without one. Accuracy and occupancy behavior can be finicky, so calibration and sensor setup matter.

  • The included SmartSensors can be valued around $50 each when purchased separately, improving bundle value.

  • The bundle can average temperature across two SmartSensors and the thermostat for more balanced comfort.

  • The thermostat supports configurable temperature differential down to about 0.5°F for tighter comfort control.

  • The setup can work across multiple floors with multiple sensors per system while controlling only one HVAC system per thermostat.

  • Extra SmartSensors can cause major comfort problems if the thermostat is switched to the wrong sensor.

  • Inaccurate temperature, humidity, or remote sensor averaging can lead to erratic heating and cooling behavior.

  • The thermostat may have a widely known accuracy issue that can require calibration using a reference temperature and humidity device.

  • Installation can become challenging without a C wire, potentially requiring the Power Extender Kit and support with photos.

$150 by black friday?
It's dipped down to $189.99 a couple times at Costco ($40 off instead of $30 off). But that's about it. Never been $150 for the Premium with 2 sensors.

Do you have 2 thermostats now? (Most likely yes)

Yes. I have this exact setup. One system on each floor. The thermostat can only control a single system. I've had them since the earliest versions and have had no issues. I have 3 sensors on each system and I have a 3rd system in another house controlled via the same account and app.

Sale runs through 10/7, limit 2 per membership. The sensors go for about $50 apiece on their own, so getting two bundled in at this price is the right buy.

Can only speak on my experience. Inaccurate sensors in the thermostat and inaccurate remote sensors causing erratic house temps. Remote sensors are averaged together and if one is bogus, it will sway the average and make equipment run when it does not need to and vise versa. Humidity sensor in the main thermostat is off by ±10% causing any humidity commanded run time to be wrong. Not sure what is better, but maybe just some bad samples on my end?
This is very accurate for me as well and unfortunately a widely known issue with these thermostats. You will definitely want to get some sort of reference measurement device for both temperature and humidity so that you can calibrate the main thermostat under the system settings. Unfortunately I do not think you can calibrate the remote sensors but I believe you can turn off any individual measurements from being in the average and just use them for an occupancy sensor. Lastly, don't forget to plug the hole in the wall where the thermostat wire comes through before calibrating. That will help ensure maximum accuracy albeit the scale doesn't appear linear so when it does calibrate the temperature and/or humidity +/- 5 degrees or so will likely still not be accurate so try to do the calibration when the room is close to the preferred temperature you will keep the thermostat at. Hope this helps.

I've only owned 3 smart thermostats, but the ecobee smart premium is definitely the worst.

It continues running as normal when I'm out of the house for extended periods of time unless I manually schedule vacation time (my nest could figure out when i was gone and go into away mode automatically).

that's just the tip of the stupid iceberg with this thermostat.

Mine arrived, and got it working today.

Was a bit challenging to get it to work, because I don't have a "C" wire to the thermostat. And inside my air handler doesn't have a nice organized control board, and doesn't really even have a control board other than a small one with a couple wires. My air handler is basically just a jumble of wires that are wire nutted together, along with the thermostat wires that are also wire nutted to other wires in the air handler.

Had to contact the Ecobee support center and send pictures. They were very helpful, and guided me through how to hook up the Power Extender Kit (PEK) to the wire nutted connections.

I'm thinking if you already have a "C" wire, this thing is easy to install. If you don't have a "C" wire, but your air handler has a modern control board with labeled thermostat connections, this would be a moderate complexity install. If you don't have a "C" wire, and your air handle is just a jumbled mess of wires all wire nutted together, then this is a complexed install.

The enhanced doesn't have the mic, why do you prefer without? I'm looking to buy but on the fence at the moment.

i have the enhanced version, which is the same as this, but with different bezel i believe. i bought the 2 sensors after. i do appreciate this device. you can set the system to use the avg temp of all 3 (2 sensors and the thermostate). i like being able to check the device from anywhere. let me know if you have any questions.
Was tempted to get the enhanced version and may e buy sensors later like you did. There were some features the Premium has that enhanced doesn't have like built in mic and display for ecobee doorbell. Did you end up spending more for the enhanced with 2 sensor?

I spent $141 for ecobee and $59 for sensors, both open box - like new. If I would have known, I would bought this deal. I think when this deal was posted my return window was still open, but wasn't worth the hassle for me.
