It is absolutely insane that the 12 pack is $41.79 before any deals...

To give you perspective Kirkland has two products we can compare against:
Kirkland standard (30 rolls per pack, or 11,400 sheets) $24.99 / pack
Kirkland premium ultra soft (36 rolls per pack, or 8316 sheets) $24.96 / pack
Charmin Ultra Amazon (12 rolls per pack, or 4620 sheets) $41.79 / pack

Price per 1,000 sheets comes out to:
Kirkland standard - $2.19
Kirkland premium ultra soft - $3.00
Charmin Ultra Amazon - $9.05

After applying the discounts above price per 1,000 sheets comes out to:
Kirkland standard - $2.19
Kirkland premium ultra soft - $3.00
Charmin Ultra Amazon - $3.60

Of course, not everyone has a costco membership, and the membership itself adds overhead to every item you buy so depending on how much you buy it can fluctuate... but still a 12 pack is $41.79 is bonkers. Also, if you have an amazon membership the numbers for their products would also be higher, and the membership for amazon is over 2x the cost of the basic Costco membership...

Break the cycle - get yourself a Bidet. Install it yourself. Profit.

Charmin Ultra Strong Clean Touch is a bulky, thicker toilet paper that stands out for strength and minimal residue, especially compared with softer or thinner store brands. The Family Mega XL rolls are also very large, and Charmin holder extenders are available for older dispensers. Pricing looks much better with Subscribe and Save and rebate stacking, with totals reported in the high 20s to low 30s before tax. The main drawbacks are that the rolls may not fit older holders, the first part of each roll can be awkward, and the rebate may not match every UPC. A solid option if you want stronger paper and can handle the size.

  • Subscribe & Save pricing can drop the Charmin Ultra 12-pack to the high-$20s after taxes.

  • Charmin Ultra Strong Clean Touch can leave minimal residue compared with ultra soft options.

    Ryan870

  • TP holder extenders can help XL Mega rolls fit older toilet paper holders.

    Wildpir8

  • The deal can still apply Subscribe & Save even when the extra first-order 10% discount is not offered.

    EastCoastMTBer

  • The per-1,000-sheets cost can remain much higher than Costco Kirkland options even after discounts.

    mjf389

  • XL Mega rolls may be too large for older toilet paper holders, making the first portion of each roll difficult.

    RareWS6

  • Packaging quality can be inconsistent, with rolls not wrapped tightly and the beginning not cut into individual sheets.

    Samorm

  • A P&G rebate may fail due to UPC format mismatch, since some boxes reportedly use a 14-digit UPC instead of the required 12-number UPC.

How does Kirkland compare quality-wise? I've never used it. For example, I'll never buy Cottonelle ever again no matter how cheap it is.
I used to swear by Charmin, but I dont miss it after buying the premium ultra-soft kirkland stuff.

Even people with fancy bidets still reach for a little toilet paper. Nobody has time to sit there getting air-dried like a freshly detailed car.
It is absolutely neanderthal to take your hands, scrunch up paper, spread your cheeks and then wipe the area mere millimeters from your fingers, assuming it's a clean sweep. Otherwise you'll spend a whole roll just to clean properly. Are you suggesting this is faster than water???

This is the kind I always buy but the last package was different. Wasn't wrapped tightly on the roll and the beginning of the rolls weren't cut into individual sheets. It was strange. Hopefully a one-time thing and they didn't enshitify this.

There is an extra 30% off plus 15% S&S for first S&S delivery. So my total is $26.xx before tax.

XL mega size is just too big for old-fashioned toilet paper holders. I just bought these and I'm struggling with the first 1/5 of each roll.

You can order up to 3 free TP holder extenders directly from Charmin. $1.50 shipping per extender. I've ordered many and they work well.

Where are you getting your price of $41.79 for a 12 pack at Amazon? The price history clearly shows $27 for the last year.

There's a difference between ultra strong and ultra soft. You have to atleast compare comparable products.
Charmin ultra soft leaves the berries hanging, kirkland ultra soft is even worse. Charmin ultra strong leaves minimal.

The TP is a sacred item. If i have explosive diarrhea. I like to know im not going to get a handful of it. Its the difference between wiping or taking a shower.

The 12 pack is normally 26.99.

There's a new P&G rebate that starts today. https://pgbrandsaver.com/rebates/...me=holiday
The UPC on my box is not eligible for the rebate. The rebate asks for a 12-number UPC. My UPC on the box is 14 digits. The individual packages do not have individual UPCs.

Sure you might still use some paper for drying but single ply will probably do fine - and that roll will last 20x longer than it did before. Also bidets aren't all that fancy. You can get one that is just an addon to an existing toilet - cost 80-120 bucks. Based on above math, if you stop buying full price Charmin Ultra Soft from Amazon it will probably pay for itself in a year or less.Getting a bidet wasn't really the point of my post though - my point was that Amazon - even after 41% off, is not competitive with Costco. That was quite surprising, to me anyway.
The price of TP is ridiculous, agreed. Especially Charmin, it's been wildly expensive all year, with reasonable discounts here and there.

Single ply TP is useless though

Right, Amazon "item details" has the 12-digit UPC. OP's 12-ct fam mega xl is 030772210697 and ultra soft is 030772210680 https://www.amazon.com/Charmin-Cu...B0FLFDV8LK
