Good deal, the series is a mixed bag though with 3rd season pretty much the one worth watching in terms of the story, excellent animation across the whole show though.
SPOILERS: First season I thought was descent until the end that was pretty anticlimactic, all this build up for it just to be a petty revenge plot. Second season was disappointing, especially with making the evil avatar character that was not interesting at all. Then 3rd season was just brilliant, it deconstructs air benders philosophy into this powerful and dangerous opponent and his reasoning make sense to justify all his actions. Then 4th season was just meh... an earth nation group that gains power and wants conquest. I think the biggest disappointment was that as opposed to the first series that had its whole over arching plot though its 3 seasons, Korra makers never knew if they would get another season, so each season would have to finish its story instead of having a grand one like Aang had.

Literally every single conflict in this should could've easily been avoided if Korra just stopped to ask, 'wait a minute. who are you? nothing you're asking me to do is immediately urgent. let me go back to my peeps and confirm who you are first.'

I agree with a bit of your sentiment. But I think if you look at the series to have the sole purpose of developing kora and not saving the world, I think the show holds up a bit better.

Times change, and by today's standards Korea as a character may not feel as unique. However I think when this show was popular a hero being fallible was a hot take.

I agree with most of your post. Season 3 was great, that season holds it own against pretty much any season of the original avatar series. The other 3? Not as well done but season 4 was good not great.

Wait until you hear about the new avatar series that is basing the season 1 villain on season 2 Korra storyline. I'm sure you already know though and I agree with you outside of the fact that amon is also a great villain

Season 2 is fine and gives a ton of back story to the universe. It's just too long.

Once I started thinking about the show as a meditation on failure, it was much more enjoyable. Korra and company dealing with failure (often self inflicted) was fairly novel at the time. I did a second watch of the series years later through that lens and had a much better experience.
