I hear there's lots of sex and violence in the adult version. Is that the case in the kids' version?
The Bible compared to modern media, the violence is roughly on the level of a historical war film or epic novel (plenty of battles and deaths, little lingering gore), while the sexual content is closer to the plot points of a TV drama than anything explicit. It's woven into a much larger religious and historical text, not the main focus. The Bible includes those stories mainly because it is trying to give a realistic picture of human life and history rather than a cleaned-up moral fairy tale.It shows what people actually did. It illustrates the consequences of sin and brokenness. It serves theological purposes. It records history as the authors understood it.ESV stands for English Standard Version, it will be the full text.

Depending on the age and reading level of the child, ESV may not be the best option for understanding. There are plenty of full-text Bibles available in simpler language versions like NIrV or ICB, even NLT, in kids editions like this one.
