This game looks good but it rarely if ever got hard enough to take auto battle off. A lot of abilities, mostly pretty samey. Wears out it's welcome long before it's over.
I have both Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 and preferred to buy the Switch 1 version vs the 2 because of that stupid game key. You get the full version of the game vs the "Right to download" "GAMEKEY". Some years from now when they decide to stop make the game/s available for download/install for the "GameKey" games, I won't have a single game I can't play offline. All my games both Switch 1 and 2, are "Full game on disk" games.

Although it's unfortunate we can't have games preloaded in the game card, I think it's unlikely that we can't download "GameKey" games in the foreseeable future. We don't have a precedent for it for the major companies, even if it CAN happen.
Also you can download the game once and you'll be able to play offline indefinitely. The major downside imo is you have to hold 6.8gb game in memory, in a time where memory is expensive, and it's unfortunate for those who don't have good access to internet.
The nintendo wii released in 2006, we can still download games you purchased from it.
You can still buy and download games on the psp in 2004.
It's hard to prefer the switch 1 version too because it runs 720p @ 30fps vs the 4k 60fps on the switch 2 version.

As a devoted fan of the DQ series, I sadly must agree this is accurate. The hardest thing about the game is going from past to present and trying to keep up with the story line and finding tablet fragments to further progress the story. Also, tolerating that entitled, bratty ginger girl. I wanted to love this game so bad, but twas a solid meh at best for me. 🫤

I only ask because I know there are a few like Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends that play the Switch one version when playing on original Switch.
Edit: Disregard. I see its also available on OG Switch for same price
Only if it's designated with a particular label as a "Switch 2 Edition" game, which both of those titles you mentioned are. There's typically a notice on the front cover indicating such.

Oh, that precedent is coming one of these days. You watch. It's one of multiple pitfalls of a digital future, even with pseudo-digital or hybrid products. Though as you alluded to, as long as there is a way to backup/restore your entire game library completely offline without restrictions and in a manner that isn't cumbersome or impractical then in that case there should be a viable workaround to mitigate a lot of the concerns surrounding that. With a little tech savviness too of course. I did just this with my entire 3DS library with a combination of both physical and digital games to future proof it and following the appropriate process to restore it offline seems to work fine, so hopefully that will continue to hold into the future for the Switch & Switch 2 generation.
As far as the differences between the versions go, I still prefer the Switch 1 version. I don't have a 4K capable TV anyway and to me personally I don't really care much about 60fps in a slower-paced game like a turn-based RPG (it's not like a twitch shooter or racing game afterall). I'd rather have the data on the cartridge (and it does add up) and also have the capability to play it on either a Switch 1 or a Switch 2. But that's just me.

Also, some further info regarding labeling on the cartridges for context:
