Is the band better than the normal leather band Citizen uses on watches?

Fake or not, these ECO Drive watches don't last. The capacitor can only last 10-15 years.

I have a 21-year-old one that I've never serviced and it still works great. Maybe I'm just lucky?

I think so... I bought one to give myself a college graduation gift. It lasted about 8 years. Then, I bought another one and the replacement lasted me about 10 years... I gave up and switched to smart watches for daily driver that are even more problematic, but comes with other side benefits...

sorry to hear.

Here's another data point. I have one that's 18 years old sitting on my window sill for the last 16 years, working as a tiny clock. It can get really hot too when the sun hits; it's still working.

Like you, I now mostly wear a smart watch. Able to get texts and alerts discreetly is a real convenience.

I don't like the industrial look on the dial (esp. the day-of-week gear design). Otherwise, I like the day of month part because I don't have to struggle to read a tiny number.

I have this watch and love it. The blue really pops out and it's a great simple eco drive watch overall.

I've had 2 ecodrives, first one died around 6 years shortly after I left it in the drawer for a year. It came back to life but the capacitor was shot from fully draining. The second, i keep in a watch case where it gets enough sun to never fully drain and is still ticking after 18 years
