Can this be used as a makeshift mattress for occasional use or is the foam in this a different type than that used in foam mattresses?

The foam in these is typically a lot stiffer than a mattress. It's better than sleeping on rocks outside, but not much better than blanket directly on the floor.

Having experience with other VEVOR products, they're probably clearing out their stock and it will never be made by them again.

Yes, I have a few VEVOR carry bags for my equipment and they've been pretty good quality. It's a shame I can't buy more since they're no longer available. I also have a huge VEVOR exercise wheel for my cat and the quality is pretty solid too. There are so many VEVOR branded items available that I'm pretty sure they just slap their brand to already existing products (I know there's a term for it, but I forgot what it is). Everything has been solid so far, so pretty sure they do quality control before slapping their brand on a product.

Better prices on real folding mattresses and if you're taller than 5"6 , legs will bodangles for the monsters at night.
