These chopped walnuts are mainly useful for baking or oatmeal, but freshness is the big concern. Several comments describe bags that taste old, stale, or rancid, including references to last year's harvest and mixed results from Amazon orders. Fresh bags do arrive for some deliveries, so quality appears to depend on the pack received. Price comparisons also point to better value at Sam's Club or Costco. A workable option if freshness checks out, but not the strongest value on the shelf.
Oatmeal eaters who want chopped walnuts for topping, because the nuts can arrive fresh and not rancid.
Shoppers who will use the walnuts soon after opening, because freshness can vary and stale flavor shows up in the bag.
Buyers who want a small pantry portion, because the 8-ounce bag is easy to store and use up quickly.
Anyone sensitive to stale or rancid nuts, because these walnuts can taste old, stale, or rancid.
Bulk snack shoppers comparing unit prices, because larger club-store bags can cost less per ounce.
People who need consistently fresh walnuts for baking, because freshness can vary enough that bags may need checking before use.

These walnuts taste old. I will describe them as disgusting. If you order these, there will be no refund, only an exchange for the same item. Since this is a food item these are non-returnable due to safety reasons.

The ones frozen for a year were okay. The new ones rancid. Unfortunately I had to open them all to verify since they got mixed up. Horrible taste in the rancid ones.
