I'd personally stay away from this doorbell. I've owned three Eufy E340s, and all three have had the same reliability problems. The biggest issue is live view — sometimes when someone is actually at the door, the camera simply won't load, even though my network connection is strong. I've also had many missed notification and other software-related issues.

Eufy support has replaced the doorbell, but replacing the hardware hasn't fixed it, which is why I believe the problem is with the software/firmware rather than a defective unit. A security camera can have great picture quality and features, but if you can't reliably pull up the live feed when you actually need it, that defeats the whole purpose.

$99 sounds like a good deal, but after dealing with the same problem across three units, I wouldn't buy another Eufy. $99 is definitely a tempting price, but a doorbell camera isn't much use if you can't reliably view it when someone is standing at your door.

I've had the home base 3 as well. I've connected the hb with Ethernet. same issue. occurs. iunno.

I agree with this. We recently bought and installed the E340--when it works, the picture quality and package detection is great. It's just not reliable. The doorbell rings immediately on both the Homebase and wireless chime, but the phone notification takes longer and often you can't access the video/audio. The notification for motion detection and the recording sometimes takes HOURS. The hardware seems great, the software seems hopeless. Just avoid it

I have this camera too, and the same problems with it.

I have the previous generation of Eufy doorbell (without the downward facing camera) and it's been going strong for 3+ years now. Never have had issues with reliability or the app.

Don't have it connected to a HomeBase so wondering if that's related to the issues the previous commenters have experienced?

I thought HomeBase might be the issue too, but I've tested this pretty extensively. I've gone through three E340s and the same live-view problem keeps happening. I've also tried troubleshooting the network side of it, and the strange part is that toggling HDR off/on can immediately make live view start working again. That's one of the reasons I think it's a software/firmware issue rather than weak Wi-Fi or a defective doorbell.

I'm not saying every Eufy doorbell has this problem — your older model may genuinely be rock solid. My experience is specifically with the E340.

but when it works it's great! I was going to go deep into their ecosystem. but their response to repeatable issues and fixes didn't leave a good taste. I still use their other products though.

I have to say far back as I can remember doorbell has held its price. It must be a really good product. I would love to get it and get rid of my Ring doorbell. It works without a subscription but a lot of need stuff that you can do. You have to have a subscription. I don't think it's right.

E340 has been working great for me. It did have an issue before due to an automatic firmware update, which caused the battery to completely drain even while it was connected to power. But after a few firmware updates, everything went back to normal.

I had the Google Nest Doorbell (2nd gen) before this, and it was a nightmare. The doorbell itself was mostly fine, but the chime I bought from the official Google Store kept breaking after a few months. I had it replaced under warranty, and guess what? A few months later, the replacement broke again. I even replaced the power source, but that wasn't the issue.

Now I have an Eufy system throughout my home, and I don't have to pay any subscription fees. Much happier with it overall.

I got this and a second battery for $130 a couple years back and haven't had any issues with it. Running on the battery vs hardwired fwiw.

I just installed my e340 a few days ago (hardwired with upgraded transformer). Do you have issues with the phone app where the events show up on the notifications but browsing it under EVENTS sometimes it disappears. I logged a support ticket and they suggested clearing the app cache but reddit shows that it didn't fix the problem. I don't use a homebase and my connection is really close. It's one wall about 10ft away.

Im debating between this or the Riolink doorbell. The reviews here sound like Reolink might be the way instead?

I'm going to agree with others about it sensing people and packages. sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes it thinks one is there, and keeps asking if it can help you if you stand on your front porch when you let the dog out. Regardless it just stopped working for no reason a couple months ago. I was thinking about getting another one, but now a bunch of you reminded me why I hated it. And why I hate the whole ecosystem from Eufy. I have cameras that worked fine and then they didn't. I have cameras that they promised to bring on the homebase 3 after I bought one and it took them like 2 years to bring some of those models on board. The reliability of these things is awful. The firmware is garbage. The software is trash. And the hardware itself keeps failing. (did I mention the 220 solar cam that just decided to stop working within a few months? twice! I gave up on that one.) I also have their secure drop box. it NEVER worked correctly. If you ever wondered why they stopped selling it, that's why. I spent many many hours troubleshooting that thing. Camera would work, then it wouldn't. Could program codes. Then I couldn't. Then I'd reset it all and start over. Now the only thing it still does reliably is let's delivery drivers open with a code, and lets me reset it with a different code that I open it with. But if it ever lost its programming I'm pretty sure I would have to program in all new codes. which means updating the shipping information for many many websites.

Comment 2... By the way, I have a background in microelectronics, and computer network systems. Don't waste your money on Eufy. It's not worth the frustration.
