Currently playing this many many years after playing the orignal version and its a lot of fun. They've made a lot of quality of life upgrades like fast travel, auto save, maps with lots of helpful indicators like timed events and whatnot. The story and acting are very silly, but sweet, and I think the combat is a lot of fun and I find it to be challenging on universe difficulty. Worth the 25 for sure to me. Even if its s lot of nostalgia joy.

I've played all of these when they originally came out and the remakes, yet Star Ocean 2 will always hold a special place in my heart for the complexity and introducing me to Star Ocean as a series. It also introduced 3 of my little cousins into the genre and they love JRPG's because of it. I finished learning Japanese to play SO1 before DeJap finished their official translation.
