No one in there right might should ever buy a cheap ebike unless they want there house to burn down.
You need to spend $1000 at a minimum to get something that wont kill you and $2k + to get something "nice"
Also bike shops are not allowed to work on non-UL bikes or they will lose there insurance so you are 100% on your own with this type of bike.

Ebike fires are very rare overall compared to the number out there, more rare than lightning strikes. Most batteries are made in China anyway. Buying a 1000+ bike doesn't mean your battery is coming from a different factory at the end of the day. Also ebike shops will work on your bike, but they might not touch the motor. At this price point you won't be getting it fixed anyway.

The odds of being struck by lightning over a Lifetime is about 1 in 15000
Conflating an annual risk with a lifetime risk distorts the true comparison.
In reality, lightning strikes a tiny fraction of the population each year, while certain urban areas see hundreds of e-bike fires annually.
The Actual comparison is:
The odds of being struck by lightning over a Lifetime is about 1 in 15000
The odds of having a e-bike fire over a Lifetime is about 1 in 375
How is that "more rare than lightning strikes"???????
Buying a good name brand UL certified $1000+ ebike 100% means your battery is coming from a different factory that is UL certified at the end of the day (yes you can get ripped of if you buy an unknown brand but why do that at $1k when you can get a name brand UL certified at that price point)
If any ebike shop in the USA works on this will eventually lose there insurance as that is a violation of the terms in the USA
