The 40 ounce Owala FreeSip is an insulated stainless steel bottle that stands out for its convenient sip lid and strong value at this price. The bottle works even without using the straw, and the cap can be taken apart for a deep clean. It also gets praise for being easy to carry for sports and daily use, with some preferring the updated Sway version for cupholder fit and handle design. Main drawbacks are the bulky, heavy feel when full, the extra cleaning effort around the straw and rubber pieces, and occasional damage or rough condition on arrival.

  • Teen athletes who need a large bottle for sports, because the cap comes apart for a deep clean and the bottle works well for regular sideline use.

  • Drivers and hikers who want a portable bottle that fits cupholders, because the 24-ounce size is easy to carry while the 40-ounce version gets bulky when full.

  • Buyers who want a straw bottle that still works without the straw, because it can be used normally even when the straw is removed or unusable.

  • People who prefer a simple insulated bottle with a straightforward drinking setup, because the bottle can be used without relying on the straw mechanism.

  • People who want a low-maintenance bottle, because the cap has multiple pieces that need frequent disassembly and cleaning to keep residue from building up.

  • Shoppers expecting rugged everyday durability, because the top area can break from a drop and the bottle can ding more easily than sturdier alternatives.

  • Buyers who need a lightweight 40-ounce bottle for all-day carrying, because the full bottle can feel too bulky and heavy.

  • People who expect a clean, unused bottle on arrival, because one received unit arrived beat up and already had water inside.

Good deal. You're getting the 40 oz for the 32 oz price but the freesip sway has the better updated handle / locking mechanism imo

Yes but it would be a regular water bottle you pour into your mouth

They must be doing away with this model, which I love. I already bought this in 32 to have a backup, and am tempted to do the same here

Yeah sometimes the straw isn't removable or the leftover hole is not really usable. I use this bottle without a straw and it works like it wasn't even designed for a straw. It's meant to be usable either way I have no complaints.

I avoid these complex caps. Although convient you have to constantly take it apart to clean. Just get a screw cap like Yeti and call it done.

40oz is too heavy and bucky. 32oz is the sweet spot

In for one. We have one already and it's great for my teenager to take to sports. Easy to take a part for a deep clean

Do you have a link to one? I would prefer a screw cap.

My wife and I both have the 24oz size and really like the size, they fit into the cupholders of our vehicles and are portable enough to carry around on hikes. The 32oz seems like it would work just as well, the 40oz is getting to bulky and heavy if full of liquid.
