The 40 ounce Owala FreeSip is an insulated stainless steel bottle that stands out for its convenient sip lid and strong value at this price. The bottle works even without using the straw, and the cap can be taken apart for a deep clean. It also gets praise for being easy to carry for sports and daily use, with some preferring the updated Sway version for cupholder fit and handle design. Main drawbacks are the bulky, heavy feel when full, the extra cleaning effort around the straw and rubber pieces, and occasional damage or rough condition on arrival.
The FreeSip design can be used normally even when the straw is not used.
The FreeSip cap can be convenient while still allowing deep cleaning by disassembly.
The 40 oz size can offer a better handle and locking mechanism compared with the 32 oz FreeSip Sway version.
Some owners report the bottle keeps ice longer than their Stanley quencher models.
The straw and mold area can trap residue, so frequent disassembly cleaning is needed.
The FreeSip cap requires constant disassembly for cleaning, which can be inconvenient.
The bottle can be difficult to take apart and may break after a drop near the top lid.
Amazon delivery can arrive in poor condition, including a beat up bottle with water already inside.
