I tested this to see. At max torque, it drives a #6 drywall screw nearly 1.5 inches into dry pine.

This WORX 4V screwdriver is a compact, newer model that stands out for light household work, with adjustable torque and a 30 piece accessory kit. It gets praise for better ergonomics than a similar Skil model, enough power for tasks like doorknobs, light fixtures, mirrors, machine screws, and even some drywall screws, and solid battery life for a full day of use. The main drawbacks are the awkward grip for stubborn screws and reports that it can twist your wrist or struggle with corroded fasteners. It seems best suited to small jobs where a slim, powered driver saves hand strain.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes. It has held up for years on light-duty jobs like light switch covers, changing light fixtures, hanging mirrors, doorknobs, strikeplates, and latches. It is also described as a go-to tool for small household tasks and assembly work with many machine screws.

    SDR1290Biresneedfunky_herbal_t

  • Yes. The WX242L has seven adjustable torque settings, with a 0.15 Nm to 5 Nm range, so it can be dialed down for delicate work instead of relying on one fixed speed. The adjustable clutch collar at the end is the way to identify and change the torque setting.

    VioletRaccoon567LaGrrrandeLaGrrrande

  • At max torque, it can drive a #6 drywall screw nearly 1.5 inches into dry pine. It handles most routine fastening well, but it may struggle to break loose corroded or stubborn screws.

  • This deal is for the 30-piece kit, and that is more than some earlier versions that came with only 12 accessory bits. The larger kit is one reason this listing stands out versus older purchases.

I paid 28.15 pre-tax in June. I have used this with delight many a time. My hands and forearms are spared much use in changing out many light fixtures and hanging mirrors in moving into a new house.

I'm thinking most of the naysayers are confusing this deal with the worx 240L. The 242L has all around good reviews.

Worth a look. I do a lot of remote control stuff. This might be nice for cars with larger fasteners. A drill works but gets tiring holding it.

Different model. This one is the newer model that was only available internationally. This is a good model at a good price. I got mine for $29.99 last December when it became available.

Bought one, accidentally got the smallest tiny bit of water in the power button and the screwdriver never stopped spinning, even after drying for weeks and letting the battery completely deplete and recharge. I've had moisture get in countless other brands and never had an issue. If you want this, just never get it wet, and even then it honestly wasn't worth even the sale price. Very underwhelming torque.

This is not great, pay a bit more and get a better design. It has way too much torque that you end up twisting your hand if not expecting the screw to come to a stop, and when unscrewing stubborn ones it turns the whole body due to odd shape with no grip. It's good for smallvscrews and maybe stuff like light switch covers.
My brother in Christ, it literally has seven adjustable torque settings that you can select so that this very thing doesn't happen.

Two years ago, this one wasn't available from US sellers, just shady Chinese Temu/AliExpress type sites. They may have had its predecessor with a smaller battery and no adjustable torque settings.

Yeah, I don't think you did. But, you could always post your Sam's Club purchase history of it if you think you did.

The thing is decent. Bought this for $23 in 2024. It's not bad. My understanding is that it only has 3 torque settings unless I'm missing something
