No coupon for me, but at $11.01, it's still a decent price imo.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I bought one a couple years ago and found it hard to season. The bottom of the pan is very rough so if you use a paper towel to spread oil it just shreds it in seconds leaving behind lint in the oil and nothing bonds

I have this pan. It's lighter than my Loge of the same size if that matters to anyone. Otherwise it cooks fine.

Don't blame the pan for this. If you are in a hurry to season this size pan, get some crisco and put a very light coating on the pan. Use the largest burner on your stove and put the pan on medium heat. It will smoke like hell. When the smoking COMPLETELY stops, wait 5 more minutes and turn the heat off. Be prepared to have your house smoked out. Let the pan sit on the stove until completely cool. Wash with mild soap and water, apply a comically small amount of oil to the pan before you store it. The more you use it, the more seasoning you will build.

If you prefer a smoother surface you can take a wood block and a sheet of 100 grit sandpaper to knock the peaks off the rough surface or even sand the pan smooth if you wish (of course you have to reseason it after).

If this is too much work, there are brands/pans that are smooth surfaced but they are much expensive. I'm frugal so I put the elbow work in myself.

This being said, yes this is a very VERY good price on this sized cast iron pan but it is made in China. For me, I prefer to support American manufacturing and I own 10 and 12" Lodge pans. They are heavier (retain heat better) and are better for shallow frying. TU on this deal though.

I'm sure if you ask Bezos, he will take more more of your money if you wish! Seriously though it's a solid brand and a good deal. Read my other post for the caveats.

here is the least expensive milled cast iron pan I have found, I bought it in 2020 and have been relatively pleased with it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP9T..._title_0_0

All the other new cast iron I own I have smoothed out with a 40 grit flap disc and seasoned all winter on my wood stove, I just cycle through pans and and pots each evening
