This compact folding utility knife stands out for its slim, light feel and easy one handed unlock, with quick blade changes that make it convenient for everyday use. The standard blades are described as sharp enough for utility work, though the carbide blades are said to feel less sharp than ordinary ones. The handle is plastic, and this model does not have built in blade storage. At the listed price, it is a handy compact cutter if those tradeoffs are fine.

  • Shoppers who want a simple folding cutter without extra blade storage, because this design keeps the knife compact.

  • Tradespeople who want a slim folding utility knife, because the blade unlocks easily and blade changes are quick.

  • People who prefer a light utility knife in a pocket or tool pouch, because the body is slim and easy to carry.

  • Buyers who want a metal-framed version with built-in blade storage and rapid blade changes, because that construction is called out on the 5x model.

  • People who want razor-sharp disposable-blade cutting, because the carbide blades can feel less sharp than ordinary blades and cut more like a slightly dull blade.

  • Workers who need onboard spare-blade storage, because this knife has no blade storage.

  • Buyers comparing total cost against local retail, because shipping can erase the discount and make it cost more than buying locally.

  • Shoppers who want a sturdier-feeling handle, because the handle is plastic.

Unless you're ordering more from Zoro at the same time to get the free shipping, it costs more than paying retail locally because the discount is less than the $5.99 shipping. Paying more than retail is not a good deal in my book.

Free shipping only requires a $50 order. Still more than I'm willing to try to spend to get this knife, but it's not $100, so I figured it was worth mentioning.
Just order 8 knives for free shipping, then return 7 knives.

You're right, but only if you have an account. If you put one knife in the cart it will tell you that you are $93 away from free shipping. Not sure if there's any cost to the account, like a membership of some sort, but whether it's 50 or 100 it's definitely deal-breaker.

I just checked the Amazon link and it is now available for $6.70 but it is temporarily out of stock. Previously it was only available from other sellers at a higher price. Amazon lets you put it in the cart and check out with the $6.70 price. They won't charge you until they ship it and they'll email you when they have a shipping date. I just checked out for one knife and an after-tax price of $7.17. Hopefully the order does not get canceled. I'll post here again if I get shipping confirmation. If I actually get the knife it's a great deal.

I got 3 of these from past SDs. It's my fav folding knife. Blades easy enough to change. Light and slim. The best part is to unlock that silver tap easily does it's job unlike other folders where it can be hard to unlock. BTW I got their carbide blades and I'm not sure they are as sharp as ordinary blades so I won't repurchase those. They might be tougher but seem to cut like a slightly dull cheap blade.

Disappointing to hear. I bought a pack of those not that long ago based on the great reviews. Haven't tried them yet.

To me they seem like a sharp pocket knife not quite like a new razor blade.
