750w motor and 1000w peak. This is a known bike (I've bought 3). The info is correct. Goes 26-28mph and I'm 160lbs. However... it's almost always $280, so this deal is far from slick.

Sadly it's just in the cards. Good PAS is more expensive to implement and real torque-based PAS is only really seen in ebikes costing $1000 and up. Really alot of ebikes will be used as low powered electric motorcycles (I'm guilty) and PAS is a distant concern. Frankly I'm glad they don't waste too much development and money on it. People looking for more exercise-oriented ebikes will probably be looking elsewhere anyway.

750W is needed in order for it to be legally classified as a class 3 ebike. Anything more powerful than that, you need to register the e-motorcycle.

1000W is technically what you can get when the battery is fully charged.

On my e20, the controller says max current 18A. A fully charged 48V bike battery actually has 54.6V. (18A*54.6V ~ 980W rounding up to 1kW)

It's NOT actually the PAS.....it's the controller that is horribly unfinished. With a normal controller, you can adjust how far you have to move the pedal before the motor starts, and how hard the motor ramps up.....This controller won't even let you limit the speed to comply with the law. I own 2 of these bikes.....replaced the controller and love them.

What controller did you replace it with? I have two and looking to order a 3rd. Bike #1 has hundreds of miles and is still running strong. I driver it to work and back twice daily.

The battery will do up to 20amp, so I suggest a foc 20a controller. You will also want to pair the controller with a display, and a new 5 in 1 cable...as the current 5 in one is tailored to the proprietary controller. If you feel good about soldering and wiring, it is doable...but definitely not plug and play..
