  • Condition Notes:
    • Open Box: New-ish Boxes
    • The units in this event are being sold as "open box" condition. That means that they have been opened due to being a photo sample, a tested working customer return or having damaged packaging. Some non-essential items may be missing from the box. That is the reason for the reduced sale price and the reduced warranty.
  • Don't have Amazon Prime? Students can get a free 6-Month Amazon Prime trial with free 2-day shipping, unlimited video streaming & more.
  • If you're not a student, there's also a free 1-Month Amazon Prime trial available.

The Switch 2 is the stronger pick for current and upcoming games, with solid Nintendo exclusives and surprisingly good ports from modern third party releases. The open box listing comes with important tradeoffs, though, since the units may be photo samples or customer returns, some non essential items may be missing, and the warranty is reduced to 90 days through Woot instead of Nintendo. The box also being labeled new makes the condition harder to judge. At this price, the main appeal is the hardware and game support, not the warranty or packaging.

  • Buyers who can inspect accessories on arrival, because cords and the screen protector may have been removed from the box.

  • Portable gamers wanting current third-party releases, because many modern ports run remarkably well on the system.

  • Players who want Nintendo exclusives on a more capable handheld, because the system is described as much more capable and still gets new Nintendo games.

  • Collectors expecting a sealed retail package, because the box can be opened with no stickers or seals to prove it was never unpacked.

  • Gamers who need full manufacturer warranty coverage, because open-box units come with a reduced 90-day warranty instead of Nintendo coverage.

  • Shoppers who want every accessory included, because some non-essential items may be missing from the box.

  • Deal hunters waiting for a deeper discount, because $449 is still close to the old new-unit price.

"New" but open 🤔 To be fair, there's no stickers or seals on the box of an unopened Switch 2 system. So it's kinda hard to tell if it was or wasn't ever opened 😅

Look at cords and screen protector if removed

I mean sort of, but you can tell when the contents have been unpacked/repacked. That said, just be aware of the fine print with this:

"The units in this event are being sold as "open box" condition. That means that they have been opened due to being a photo sample, a tested working customer return or having damaged packaging. Some non-essential items may be missing from the box. That is the reason for the reduced sale price and the reduced warranty."

It states 90-day warranty via Woot (not Nintendo) by the way.

Seems kinda odd to jump on this deal to save $50 but lose out on the full warranty.

Extremely, and especially since $449 is the old brand new price. This needs to be $399 to be enticing in any way.

Good catch on the fine print. "a tested working customer return" probably shouldn't be considered "New" 😅

This was $387 last week

Even then, just... Wait for deals that are sure to arrive in some way shape form in 1-2 months

Yeah, no kidding 🙄

edit: I also don't like the sound of "Some non-essential items may be missing from the box."

You do lose the factory warranty but open-box usually applies for credit card extended warranty protection at least.

At the very least someone will put it back at $449 new or else give a free game with it at the $499 price.

Are there any system sellers out for the Switch 2 yet? I know I'll eventually need to get one because of the new Pokemon game, but that's been pushed back to 2027 so I'm not in a rush.

Is there a big difference between Switch 1 OLED and Switch 2?

The OLED technically has a better screen, but that's a system that's being phased out and won't be getting most of the new games anymore. The Switch 2 is a much more capable system. In addition to the Nintendo exclusive games, a lot of modern games are getting ported to it as well.

It really just depends on the kind of games you like to play. But I will say that the 3rd party support is pretty crazy for the Switch 2 now. A lot of the modern 3rd party games coming out on PS5 or Xbox, have a Switch 2 port that runs remarkably well.
