My favorite cans are the TH-900 (the closed-back sibling to these). I prefer them due to the "in your face" nature and I feel like they played better with rock/alt rock that I primarily listen to.
Why music performers spend $$$ for IEMs? Why studio spend $$$ for recording music?
To hear and enjoy all details and nuances in music.
Can Apple airPods deliver studio quality? Fan base will argue yes, but other will sat no and pay top dollars to have great experience with music.
