I agree they're a dying breed. However, I still bring my Sansa when I go on multi-day alpine climbs and don't want to waste my phone battery.

Helpful for kids who shouldn't have a phone, also helpful when you want something lighter then you phone in your pocket or arm running/walking/ or any activity

There are a lot of reasons to separate your music from your phone - battery drain, some devices offer expandable storage, headphone jack, unplugged experience and more.

A phone is a like the "Swiss Army" knife of tech, but there are many dedicated devices that can still do some features ...better.

One call out - this has a dedicated headphone jack. One of my favorite set of headphones does not have Bluetooth. Plus, everyone knows the feeling of being pulled different ways by your phone while you're in the middle of enjoying a book or a song. There is a side of tech that is reverting back to single use because of the bombardment of all the other apps pulling for our attention.

i got one of these for an elderly family member and it's pretty terrible quality. it feels hollow, it's sluggish. you're not going to have a great experience. if you want something disposable, to keep you off your phone, or to listen to books at night in bed --sure.

Same (Samsung dumb phone). When doing yardwork I don't feel like lugging around a large smartphone in my pocket. I can still use my wireless earphones too.
