Community Reviews

AARP membership is mainly useful for the Walmart Plus discount, gift card savings, and a few extra perks that can offset the fee. The strongest value comes from the $40 off Walmart Plus, 20 percent off gift cards, and occasional daily or monthly deals that can recoup the membership cost. Some also get value from Walmart Plus and Paramount Plus, Consumer Cellular discounts, free virtual programs, online movies, and local event tickets. The main drawbacks are that many benefits feel limited or situational, the offer can be tricky to link on some devices, and cancellation or refunds may be cumbersome.

Wow. I checked their full list of 'benefits.' It's more like a list of *possible* benefits and for certain situations that I have never used in 5 years. What a waste of $55.

I do agree that's a good perk and probably the only one worth it

They run this "deal" regularly. Very YMMV on any tangible benefit. Do some research to make sure you agree with their political endorsements. Big GenX vs Boomer issue for them to figure out lol. BTW if you cancel like we predominately due to certain gift cards being removed from the discount store it is a nightmare getting your prorated refund. I will never give them a penny ever again.

They still have decent selection of gift card. Which gift card removal led to your exodus?

Walmart plus is 50% off =$50 on its own all the time. These deals for AARP are ripping the elderly off on purpose 12% of motel 6 or super 8 that's not a promo that's torture.

You spent $55 plus $60 for Walmart plus and youll spend $355 plus tax for 5 years of Walmart plus. When you could have spent $250

Carnival was a healthy 10% off back before they discontinued selling them. That said, I've had good luck with cardcash.com, raise.com/GCX and carddepot.com getting 7% or more with the last batch being 8% from carddepot.com. I've never had an issue with any of these platforms and the electronic cards they send.

I'm only in for their 20% off cards. A few good gift cards can be obtained in daily deal if you're fast enough. Otherwise monthly sale ones can be good too. That'll easily recoup your membership fee.

I kept getting an error on Walmart's page on my laptop. When I tried from my phone, it went through. Maybe try a different browser or device?

I feel like I get my money's worth with Walmart Plus/Paramount Plus combo and the discounts at Consumer Cellular, an MVNO for AT&T.
