You need a subscription to get cloud storage. With a microSD card, no subscription is required. You can go back as far as the card still contains the footage. Wyze continuously overwrites the oldest recordings once the card fills up. The catch is storage capacity. Actual retention depends on card capacity and resolution/bitrate.

No, this works with a microSD card for storage and it overwrites the oldest files once the card is full so if you install a fairly high capacity card this is good for a month or more of recording before it starts to overwrite the oldest files. You can't use a lot of the features that it has without a subscription though, so they kind of force you to subscribe by paywalling all the good features that most people use all the time. Eufy is the only camera system that doesn't charge a subscription fee to use ALL the features of their cameras including remote monitoring of all cameras and HomeBase3 storage vs on-device storage so I'd opt for Eufy vs Wyze unless you just want a single camera and are never going to want to add more cameras in the future.

Excellent analysis, thanks. I'll add, the Wyze subscription fee is steep.i pay ~$100 per year and it's detection capabilities are terrible
