Picked these up for the same price back in June. I've paired mine with an 8" sub. To my non-audiophile ears, they sound quite good.

Love these speakers. Had picked mine up a few years ago when they used to drop below $80! Even without a sub, it's quite decent for my listening habits.

Which sub did you get? Which amp are you using? I am using a generic TI chipset one.

Those would have been the mark 1's for 80 bucks on sale, these are the m2's. There are some notable differences between them in addition to the price increases.

I just nabbed an Onkyo SKW-120 off Facebook marketplace. I think I paid $20 or $30 for it. I have my speakers paired with a couple of Fosi ZA3 amps in mono mode.

Used to own a pair of these when they first came out in 2014, and sold for $70 a pair at Best Buy. They were unparalleled at the time in that price range, easily outperforming the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers which were the reigning ultra-low-budget champs at the time.

Today, however, at the sub $200/pr pricepoint there's a much better option: https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/...neumi_bs5/

$140/pr on Amazon, $20 less for the "renewed" version when available. I'd take those over these Sony in a heartbeat.
