The WH-1000XM5 stands out for stronger sound and noise canceling, with refurbished pricing dropping well below retail through cart offers, watchlist offers, and the COUNTDOWN20 coupon. Free shipping and a two year Allstate warranty add value, and the same coupon also applies to related Sony listings. The main caution is build quality, especially hinge durability, which makes the XM5 feel less robust than some alternatives. It is a compelling refurbished option if you want Sony ANC and can handle the lighter construction.

Common Questions (4)

  • Leave the item in your cart or add it to your watchlist to trigger an offer, then apply coupon COUNTDOWN20 at checkout for an extra 20% off. That can bring the certified refurbished black XM5 listing to $127.99 with free shipping, and some cart/watchlist combinations reportedly drop even lower.

    mayhallDealCaptain9TesloTeslo

  • Secondipity's eBay refurbished XM5 listing includes a 2-year Allstate warranty. That warranty has reportedly covered a hinge break on a previous XM4 purchase, which makes it useful protection for a model some people handle carefully because of the hinge design.

    shawmanshawman

  • The XM5 is reported to have a flimsy hinge/build compared with older models, and one user broke it while rotating the cups to adjust them. Others report no hinge problems, so careful handling matters if you buy this model.

    shawmanmm14

  • The XM5 is described as a big upgrade for sound quality and ANC, but it is also reported as not worth upgrading from the XM4 for some buyers because the XM4 already performs well and the XM5's build quality is a concern. If you already own XM4s, the upgrade is less compelling than it is from older headphones.

This is good as secondipity via ebay provides 2 year allstate warranty. I had bought xm4 via them and my hinge did break but all state warranty did work and I am more careful around the headphone now :-)
Usually not the case. Most of Reddit reviews mention all state warranty doesn't cover it.

Its possible after too many of those, they started to exclude that as user damage. I got lucky then :-) Of course the best way to treat it in a sensitive manner. Mine broken when I was trying to rotate to adjust and moved it in the wrong direction. Its a flimsy build the way they have done it. Its supposedly better with XM6 but I am hearing Bose QC Ultra is still better or B&W Px7 S3.

These are great for night time porn without disturbing the family or neighbors. The sound separation is excellent. The smoky pink one is cheaper, never seen smoky pink before. What in the holy pinto beans is this?

Might be too bougie for some people's tastes, but coupon also applies to their listing of the Sony WH-1000X THE COLLEXION, brining it down to $311.20. Basically half price off new retail. They're pretty much a premium materials version of the XM6s. It loses the folding hinge, but gets upgraded drivers and processor.

I have an XM2 from 2018 that's still going strong. I even replaced the battery with an original Sony battery this year. Does it make any sense to switch to these?

If you want better sound quality and ANC, then for sure!

It's a huge upgrade. People say if you have XM4, though it's not worth the upgrade. Some even consider it a downgrade due the build quality issues on the XM5.

Got the blacks for $104 and the silvers for $111 after leaving both in my cart + adding them to my wishlist (so I got the offer from Secondipity) and then applying the coupon code. The blacks will wind up being my at-home headphones while my XM4s stay in my work bag for the train commute. The silvers will go to my partner to help with some sensory sensitivity.
