There's THREE filters that you have to buy/change. Yes, you have to change them every 6 months, but that's $100 worth of filters, every 6 months.

cost of filters and the availability in the future are the real consideration when getting an RO system. it's basically a paper weight if the company folds and you cant get filters anymore.

That's wild that you pay for half the cost of the device every six months. That is an insane value proposition. Are there generic filters that work? At $100 every six months, you might as well just buy a crate of these whole devices and just trash them once a year

Honestly before I was using Zerowater and the filters don't last more than 2-3 weeks with our water. Frankly I was spending about the same on those, and this is far nicer. But I get it. Filter costs are absolutely a consideration and people should definitely look at them when making a choice on something like this.
