The RP6 stands out as a pocketable Android handheld with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and an OLED screen, making it especially appealing for retro play and more demanding emulation. Up to Dreamcast, N64, PS1, and PSP it behaves much like the RP5, but it handles PS2, GameCube, Wii, and Switch more smoothly and opens up better PC streaming and Winlator style gaming. Pricing lands around $270 after shipping or extra checkout charges, and direct orders can take 2 to 3 weeks from China. Some also flag AliExpress verification and card security concerns, so the value depends on how much you want the extra performance and portability.
The RP6's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU can deliver smoother performance for PS2, GameCube, Wii, and improved Switch emulation compared with the RP5.
The RP6's OLED screen can be a strong reason to choose it, especially for shoppers who prioritize display quality.
The RP6 can support a larger Switch-focused game library through end-of-life around mid-2027.
The RP6's pocketable size can make it practical for waiting-room or around-the-house use compared with bulkier handhelds.
Buying directly from Retroid can raise the total cost to around $270 after shipping fees.
Checkout can add an "additional charges" line item of about $19.44, pushing the cart total to a little over $270.
Purchasing through AliExpress can require photo ID verification, which can be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
Shipments that pass through GoFo's Melrose Park distribution center have reportedly been stolen, which can be a serious risk for some buyers.

If the $12 off Paypal promo was still live, it would be lower than Retroid direct, but that promo is dead.
One wrinkle in all of this is that if you purchase from Retroid direct, it will ship from China, with around 2-3 week turn around as long as they have stock. Buying this from Coopreme via Aliexpress may indeed ship from a US warehouse, and arrive much sooner. Additionally, shipments from Retroid that pass through GoFo's Melrose Park distribution center for the past month have been randomly stolen. If you live in the MidWest down through Texas, there have been at least 7 confirmed thefts reported on the Retroid Reddit. I've been following these for the past month, and it has become a serious problem.
Honestly, I think it's worth the $9.77 difference to buy from Coopreme via Aliexpress for faster shipping and possibly avoiding GoFo's Melrose Park theft center.

You can't put a Steam Deck in your pocket. I mean, even for using around the house. Carrying around a Steam Deck feels a bit much. Slipping an RP6 in and out of a pocket, not so much. And now the Nova exists, which is even more pocketable. So, there is that.
And I mean this for home use. I would maybe carry a Pocket Nova, or RP6 around, but I'd mostly keep it in my bag. But, I don't want to bring around a Steam Deck. Pulling that out in a waiting room, or grocery store line, etc... feels a bit much.
