Didn't even realize they made non extreme version! Wonder if this is Costco only version. Got OG Go for under $500 a few years back and it's been a great device to drop in the bag and never use on trips lol

The Legion Go 2 Z2 model stands out as a big-screen Windows handheld with 32GB of RAM, a better display, removable controllers, and tabletop use that feels close to a compact desktop. The Z2 chip is described as a rebranded Z1 Extreme, so performance should land near the original Legion Go and not far behind the Z2 Extreme in everyday play. The main tradeoffs are the premium over cheaper Z1E handhelds, the large size and weight, and battery life that still trails the best rivals. The included four games add a little extra value, making this a strong fit if screen quality and flexibility matter most.

  • Handheld PC gamers who want a large, sharp display, because the screen is repeatedly praised as the main upgrade.

    SimonS5958kaosstarelenex

  • Players who like detachable controls for tabletop play, because the removable controllers make it easy to game without holding the device.

    SimonS5958DuMKaSDHotpuck6

  • Windows gamers who need compatibility with launcher-based PC games, because it runs titles that do not play nicely on Linux.

    WooHoo2Youimreallythatpoor

  • Docked desktop-style gaming setups, because it can pair with a USB4 or Thunderbolt dock and an external GPU for near-desktop use.

    Magowin

  • Performance-first buyers chasing the fastest chip, because the base Z2 can feel held back and the Extreme version is faster.

    DuMKaSDmotaku96mr0x

  • Shoppers who want a simple SteamOS handheld out of the box, because Windows is included and SteamOS still has bugs and workarounds.

    darthalaldarthalal

  • Travel gamers who want a light handheld for long sessions, because the device is large, heavy, and the battery can drain in about an hour at full load.

For my "drop in the bag and never use on trips" device, I chose the Switch 2.

For anyone looking for a more affordable option, the OG Legion Go has a z1e processor, so pretty similar to this in performance and the same size, but LCD, screen. It still sells for like $1000 new, but more like $600 used and open box on sale.

The controller ergonomics were one of the main things people complained about with it, but the much better legion go 2 controllers are compatible with it. They can be bought separately for like $60 each.

Does it have replaceable batteries?? It would make perfect sense to have spare batteries, we can just pop in,= and well a longer warranty period, made easier to repair.. who I kidding. I'm not thinking of those poor shareholders.

Got pretty excited for a second, but it's the Z2 and not the Z2E so it's going to feel a bit held back. Nice screen though.

Similar performance to bestbuy $800(or less) deal for Go S Z1E. $200 premium for better screen and bigger battery(only slightly better battery life due to screen) and removable controller... to each their own I guess.
The like new one is $849. For $150 more, this is a no brainer for the screen alone.

I prefer a laptop rather than this. If need handheld, should get the z1e ones for half or less of the price.

Last black friday, a 15 inch oled 5070 ti laptop was $1200.

Base on some reviews, The lego2 with z2 with 32gb ram isnt far off from the z2 extreme. The z2 from Costco is a good deal esp with costco's 90 day return and there 2yr warranty. Bought one online....its time to retire the original lego.

These things are awesome if u get a usb4 or thunderbolt 5 dock and use a 5070-5080 desktop card. I use my go s from last year with the z1e and it really is like having a desktop. You can change the bios to use most of the shared memory to system when using an external graphics card to maximize performance.

I love the original legion go, dual booting bazzite/Windows. Got it for $430 new about a year ago, screen is great and the ergonomics aren't that bad. Picking up a used one is a great alternative to this, performance should be about the same. This is a good price if this is what you want.

That said, the amazing screen comes at the price of a very large size and weight. This gets tiresome to hold, and the battery life is awful. That should be a bit better with the go2 given the capacity upgrade, but I barely get an hour on the og go at full tdp. Given those 2 complaints, I ordered an open box ally x to try out that I'm picking up today. If I'm not happy with that I might return it and pick this one up to try out.

laugh out loudlaugh out loudlaugh out loudlaugh out loudlaugh out loud

Don't forget the new Clawdbot malware system cleaner in whatever next major update they release.

I have lost all faith in Windows being usable but I do like my Epic Games collection. I want to bite the bullet and get this eventually. Esp if I can use it with a projector

Xbox Ally X has the extreme chip, so I would assume at least 20-30% better performance, your other points stand though. Definitely took the game pads off to game a few times and the large screen is an absolute must for me.
According to Gemini, the Z1E and base Z2 are the same chip. It's been rebranded and is slightly more efficient.
