The Legion Go 2 Z2 model stands out as a big-screen Windows handheld with 32GB of RAM, a better display, removable controllers, and tabletop use that feels close to a compact desktop. The Z2 chip is described as a rebranded Z1 Extreme, so performance should land near the original Legion Go and not far behind the Z2 Extreme in everyday play. The main tradeoffs are the premium over cheaper Z1E handhelds, the large size and weight, and battery life that still trails the best rivals. The included four games add a little extra value, making this a strong fit if screen quality and flexibility matter most.
The Legion Go 2 Z2 model offers a nicer screen and more RAM than cheaper Go S/Z1E options.
The Legion Go 2 can run Windows 11 and Bazzite via dual boot for a smooth experience.
The deal includes four Microsoft games, which adds immediate value for common productivity and gaming apps.
The Legion Go 2 controllers are compatible with the original Legion Go, and replacement controllers are available separately.
The Z2 chip is described as generation old, which may limit performance expectations versus newer variants.
The Z2 model is not the Z2E, so performance may feel held back compared with the higher-tier chip.
SteamOS on the Legion Go 2 may still involve bugs and workarounds compared with a native SteamOS setup.
The Legion Go family can be large and heavy, and battery life can be poor at full TDP on the original model.

Compared to ROG Ally XBOX X... same price, better screen, more RAM, similar battery, similar processor, and table top options.
Thanks OP

"it's been a great device to drop in the bag and never use on trips lol"
😂😂 Too close to home hahaha.
I had the original Go very shortly as well, I got frustrated at Windows, so ended up returning - but I'm hoping SteamOS/Bazzite has matured enough that I can dump windows off of this.
Best Buy Go S has native SteamOS vs Windows here, though. Sounds like there are still SteamOS bugs for the Go 2 (with some workarounds, but still less than ideal). Bazzite sounds pretty stable though. 🤷 ♂️
