These aren't laser etched.

According to the listing they are acid etched to make the pattern more pronounced.

It looks weird because it's only 23 layer damascus.

I was a bit skeptical as well, but some DD shows these are real damascus. 23 layers total, 1 core, and 11 layers on each side, equalling the 23. Overall not a terrible quality knife set.

Most of the Henkels line is made it China. If it's just the single dude and no Zwilling in the name it's the lower end stuff. I'm actually surprised it's $200.

I think you are right. Read the description carefully, it is only Damascus pattern. It may not be laser but acid etched pattern. BTW why would anyone buy a Damascus bread knife.
