It's an ok book sort of blows over specifics and mostly just covers high level physics and chemistry when it gets to the more complex stuff. It has the same tendency of other books like this where the basic stuff like how to make glass or how to make charcoal is very detailed step by step on construction of the heating source and step by step procedure but then when you're getting to motor or generator design it just covers the high level stuff like how magnetic forces induce current or torque depending on direction and a rough design but it doesn't cover things like salience or rotor design or flux manipulation. I'm not talking about summarizing the last 300 years of AC motor design in a few pages but it's clear when the author is getting out of his depth on the later topics
