Because it is a SATA based drive and not Nvme. Thats near the max throughput for that type of drive.

Yes. They're called roll-the-dice drives. You might get a drive. You might not! If you get the order, then roll those dice again to see if it's actually the correct size and speed you ordered!

welcome to third party foreign-based marketplaces. you have next to zero recourse, outside of a chargeback.

or you can buy first party, and just be happy with Lenovo! they're owned by a reputi..... checks notes as to which country Lenovo resides in and if they ever had any Superfish spyware scandals.... oh, nevermind.

My, how has IBM's crown jewel fallen.

Our workplace quickly made a rule, which I fully supported and sponsored, to NEVER allow a Lenovo device or product through our doors after they were using spyware. You'd be amazed at how quickly the C-suite responds to "Chinese-owned company putting spyware on devices to steal US secrets".

It's AliExpress

You MIGHT get a real one

But me personally I wouldn't buy something like memory or storage from AliExpress

I miss the days where these were $40 and a 2TB NVMe was $70.

$86, before the coupon, if you have a Lenovo Perks at Work account (wish I could tell you how I got mine, but I have no idea). There's a good chance this is just a USB enclosure with a SATA SSD in it. And there's a less than good chance it's not a garbage white label QLC drive.

Storage is at too much of a premium and prices aren't coming down anytime soon. I'll gamble on an SSD blind box. Bought 2
