Community Reviews
This CyberPower 1500VA UPS is a solid fit for keeping desktop gear and network equipment alive through blips, dips, and short outages. The AVR and battery backup are useful for protecting electronics, and the unit can handle surgey loads better than expected, even miter saw impulses in one setup. The main tradeoff is the simulated sine wave output, which can be fine for many PCs but has caused lag spikes and compatibility concerns with some power supplies and networking gear. Battery replacement is also part of the ownership cost, though replacement cells are available.
Common Questions (4)
Yes, it uses simulated sine wave output. It generally works for modern PC power supplies and networking gear, though some setups can buzz or show issues, and a pure sine wave model is available if you want smoother output.
They can be used in some setups, but the charging profile may not be correct and runtime may be reduced to about 90-95% of full capacity. If you go the power-bank route, it needs fast UPS switching, around 10 ms or less, and the battery must fit the UPS dimensions and terminal layout.
The pure sine wave CP1500PFCLCD is often the better choice for computer gear and has been seen around $190, sometimes less. The price gap is commonly about $40 to $60 more than this model when both are on sale.
Yes, the batteries are replaceable with standard lead-acid UPS batteries. A 2-pack of 9Ah replacements was found for about $46 on Amazon, and another option is buying them at Ace Hardware with coupons or offers.

I did this on one of my systems and it's been fine for about 8-10months
Or you can opt for a goldenmate lithium UPS. I have one of the pro models and have had one short outage and it worked fine but it doesn't output munch info to my Linux server regarding consumption/voltages...

For the goldenmate, this is the one i have

There are less expensive options if you dont need it to send a power down signal to a computer/server
I tried going down this route with an ecoflow delta 2 and switching was too slow (its not advertised to be used as a UPS, so its not its fault). It seems like most new power banks have the ability to be a UPS now, but just something to double check. (10ms or less switching speed)

I usually get replacement batteries at Ace Hardware. Usually, I combine it coupon or whatever offer they have going at the time.
