I saw the 28" Blackstone griddle on sale at walmart for $99 in my area. Is the smaller one worth it or is the larger one a better choice? I never owned one of these before and I want to make a decision before I purchase, any input by folks is appreciated!

I own both. They work about the same vs the obvious larger cooking space, if you have more folks to cook for, go for the larger one. Either one you choose, upgrade the line to take a larger propane tank so it heats up hotter - highly recommend it.

Generally not safe to use indoors due to carbon monoxide risk and fire potential. Gets pretty hot so safer to use on a balcony or patio. Does have an open flame under the cook top so some apartments/condos may ban it's use close to buildings.

The 22" is plenty big enough for our family of 4. Unless you are doing things that take up a lot of space (large breakfast, quesadillas or something like that.)

Did you know that people have been using gas stoves in their kitchens since the 1820s?

It's safe when used properly, but you should still exercise caution. You can place it on the stove under the range hood, or near a window if you have one in the kitchen, to ensure good ventilation.

Just because something has been a common practice for a long time doesn't mean there aren't inherent risks involved with its use.
You could use it indoors, it is not recommended. If someone we're going to, it should have proper ventilation and maybe a carbon monoxide detector.

No. As a MD I've taken care of more than one burn patient who used a propane grill indoors and had a flash ignition. Plus carbon monoxide risk.

Big difference between a propane grill and a gas stove bro.

There's definitely a difference, but the basic concern is the same: combustion produces heat and byproducts, regardless of whether it's a propane grill or a natural gas stove. A typical four-burner gas stove can actually produce more total heat than this griddle. Proper ventilation is important for either one when used indoors.

Of course, there's always some level of risk. However, a standard four-burner natural gas stove can produce around 40,000 BTU total, compared with roughly 24,000 BTU for this griddle, along with more combustion byproducts. Proper ventilation in the kitchen is a must whenever using a gas stove or a propane grill indoors.
