I've been in the market for a 780M mini PC. I saw these, they seem too good to be true. Are they scams?

Hard to tell. No name, no reviews. Not sure how good this seller is.

Are AliExpress reviews in general pretty reliable? Or is it a platform reviewing their own products?

Brand+ rated stores are more reliable.

Does AliExpress have trusted brands? If so, which Chinese brands should I be looking for?

I always search for reviews on Amazon. A lot of manufacturers in China sell their wares to anyone & apply anybody's name during the final assembly.

Brand+ is a good first step in determining reliability.

Then you need to search for YouTube reviews and verified reviews on Amazon (always sort by most recent).

A lot of sellers on AliExpress use names similar to the brand they are selling, but they aren't the actual manufacturer or brand-owner. You can go to the bottom and click on the name of the seller and Google it yourself see if they are the actual brand/manufacturer.

A lot of brands actually sell the same items on several platforms and AliExpress has lower fees, so they usually offer lower prices on AliExpress vs. Amazon.

So this looks like Bmax B8A Pro. You will get DDR5 4800, not 5600 but you do get a gen 4 m.2 (I'm suprised). And you can find this on Amazon with 4 out of 5 stars.

Also, as far as I know, the mini form factor was created by these companies in China... and it is these companies that sell the products, I do not know of mini pc companies selling their products with no names... or not having driver support. Not every mini pc is sold on Amazon. While AlieEpress may have lower fees we are talking like one or two percent more... that does not justify the lower cost.

It is lower because in America we have CAPITALISM, that means we charge as much as we can to maximize profits. While they are still making profits in China... they are not as greedy as American companies. In addition, I believe the Chinese gov't subsidizes shipping. And TRump just met with Xi Jinping... and these lower prices are a direct reflect of lowering 77 different tariffs.

Lastly, with high tariffs (from just two weeks ago) to today (much lower) and the crazy price of RAM and harddrives... much inventory never sold and these mini PC makers have sold off units to third parties but the drivers are still supported through the manufacturer.... this is what this is IMHO. I purchased a barebone system for $172 with similar CPU made by firebat.

This is obviously a DEAL. But don't expect the newest speed for RAM and expect a CHEAP hard drive.

I love these mini pc's. I am building my third one... but I prefer barebone systems and I buy memory on facebook market place and I am buying SK HK P41 M.2 Gen 4 SSD (I think this could be the best drive around for the 4th gen). To me, the most important part of your build is your hard drive, so if the system crashes hopefully you can still access any info on the hard drive.

Intel NUCs pre-date these mini PCs. Plus there's Shuttle and Mac Mini before NUCs. Lenovo, Dell and HP also all sell ultra SFF PCs for business.

I think the Chinese were the first to feature AMD APUs though.
