***pps, this is back in stock in Oregon anyway. It says "93% fulfilled" and I don't need more than 40. But, they are still available to add to cart.
Roughly ten containers were damaged. One package had been dropped/smashed and there was damage to the shipping box, but the other two looked fine from the outside, yet still had broken or cracked containers. Zero padding of any kind in the packages.
Some of these were unquestionably broken at the factory.
The boxes are marked Iris 2403111. The date code stamp also says 24, made in PA. Are these from 2024? Quite possibly.
The plastic is very thin. I have similar Container Store shoeboxes and these Iris boxes are roughly half the weight and thickness. I won't be putting anything heavy or sharp in these. I expect many will be destroyed in a couple of years even after being careful with them.
This kind of plastic becomes very brittle when it gets cold. I once made the mistake of putting one in the freezer.
These may be defects. The bottoms are bulging out a little and don't lay flat when empty. Or maybe they are just like that.
Was it a good deal? Maybe. Only because it was so cheap and I can make use of such fragile flimsy boxes.
