Prebiotic and Probiotics are absolute snake oil that has no proven health benefits. In fact, they often cause more problems than fix. Check out the Wired experts youtube video on it.

kinda, Poppis are a decent source of fiber. They can be a nice alternative to other drinks if you want to enjoy a nice taste, and a little bit of fiber at the same time. The rest of the arguments? they would if they could get into the intestine without going through the stomach, but thats not how our bodies work is it? hence meh.

You're lumping two different things together. The WIRED point is fair for probiotic supplements... most store-bought blends don't have good evidence behind them and effects depend on the specific strain. But "no proven benefits" is 100% wrong even there. Certain strains have solid trial evidence for preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and in preterm infants they reduce necrotizing enterocolitis.
Prebiotics are just fermentable fiber. Fiber feeding your gut bacteria (more bifidobacteria, better regularity) is about as uncontroversial as nutrition science gets.
Where you're right - a $3 can with a few grams of inulin is mostly marketing. Beans, oats and onions do the same job for pennies. The soda is a decent swap for regular soda, not a health product.

Well no, they got into trouble for advertising their fiber because they do not have significant amounts and you'd need several to get an effective serving. They paid out a class action suit for it:https://www.eatingwell.com/poppi-...t-11782943
