Check your local utility for rebate programs. In CT eversource was selling these for 4 dollars last month after instant rebates and the learning version was 110.
On the rebate angle, does your utility care where you bought it? Ours runs the instant discount through its own marketplace and I have never been clear whether an Amazon receipt counts for anything.
I just replaced this unit, it's complete garbage. Ask any HVAC technician. I was having issues with my AC unit that was powered by this POS and the HVAC tech was like replace the unit. Bam - issues gone. I do have the higher end nest in my main home (and it's been great), I'm going to replace at some point because Google has no business being in the HVAC Business.
I stuck w a $80 unit from Honeywell that has wifi and scheduling capability.
F*ck Google & Nest
I also have reservations on a unit from Apple, I don't want a $200 puck causing havoc on a AC unit that's $10-20k.
