Just a heads up these use the newer filter type Q so won't be compatible with your older 5300, 535 units that use filter type A

This is exactly why I bought the 5500-2 instead. These new filters are expensive.

392 sq. ft. AHAM verified

Barely better than a Winix 535 while more expensive and using a different filter.
Winix 535 is $109 https://www.winixamerica.com/product/c535/?

That's where the money is, just like printers and razors. That said I do buy generic filters for my units (forget the model number but they're all the same with 3 filters) and they work fine.

Goes down to $160 when it's discounted. Comes with extra filters to last you 2 years.

The problem with generic filters is the quality can vary. How do you know it works "fine"? What if it only filters half as well as the real deal or lasts half as long?

Pretty sure these ones have like an order of magnitude more activated carbon, so will last much longer at filtering VOC's out of the air.

In the PNW, where we have a regular Summer smoke season now, less than a year. We also have a dog that sheds, and we both work from home so were actively breathing, cooking, shedding dead skin cells etc all day long. That contribues to the filter lasting maybe 6 months for us.
