Based on the reviews, I feel like this is something I would buy now and store until next season now that it's getting cold and then realize it sucks/doesn't work as described.

I bought two of their older version and it's worked well for me. If heating a spoon and applying to the bite or using a ceramic cup with very hot water and pressing it against the bite works for you then this should work as well.
