Would someone mind helping me understand this routers purpose? AT&T fiber provides a router that powers the entire house. I'm unsure of the benefits of this device. Thanks in advance.

Usually this one comes with wider coverage, more granular settings, more controls over how the router works and if you're a parent, the paid subscription can give you more controls to your kids internet activities.
With all that being said, if the router that you have provides you with all that you need, you don't need to buy this.

TP-Link is being phased out of the US market due to security concerns. TP-Link is essentially being frozen out of the US. Their new routers—like the upcoming Wi-Fi 8 models—can't get FCC approval, and they are facing multiple state lawsuits.
That means users might lose their warranty coverage, or they won't be able to get replacements if something breaks. If they get kicked out of the US, users will probably be left stranded without any tech support or firmware updates.

Your links work just as well as your "warning," that you clearly don't know anything about. A majority of the routers listed as a security issue are EOL meaning they don't get security updates. A lot of other router companies also have security issues with EOL routers... just the way things advance in technology.

Regarding WiFi 8 -- you have no idea what you are talking about so I am ceasing here.

You aren't helping anyone, you are spreading false FUD for uplikeys.

"TP-Link Systems, based in California, is a spin-off from China-based TP-Link Technologies, following a restructuring in 2024. The complaint argues that TP-Link Systems failed to adequately disclose its association with the Chinese firm, which the Pentagon designated as a "Chinese military company" in June 2026.
The complaints also allege that TP-Link Systems' mobile apps collect sensitive consumer data—including email addresses, locations, and mobile phone identifiers—and can share it with affiliates to "comply with applicable laws." The states charge that the company fails to disclose its Chinese affiliates or their obligations under China's 2017 National Intelligence Law, which compels companies to support, assist, and cooperate with Chinese intelligence authorities."

If you can't convert your router to DD-WRT or OpenWRT is isn't worth spit. I've owned TP routers several years ago and found out they don't last very long! TP routers can easily be compromised and are a security risk! Chinese routers suck!

I honestly love TP link, TAPO switches, TAPO cams, better then linksys, ring or bing or even Wyze cams. slowly over years, i have replaced with TAPO and TP link, now my main router, internet switches, IP cams are all TAPO and TP link. never had any real issue, cams load instantly. My AX-11000 is still working great after i got it from Costco for $220 on a deal 3 years ago. so i will not buy this for now, but would have for sure if I was having any issues with the Archer AX-11000. i would def recommend this.

first sentence is accurate, this company use to have OpenWRT compatible models but not these days. as to the Chinese fear-mongering, no. I wouldn't use a US-branded model I couldn't put OpenWRT either.

Only one antenna is used, the rest pipe directly into the CCP.

I have the BE9700 version of this router and it's great. Love the admin dashboard. Super easy to toggle on and off port forwarding rules or lock devices to a particular IP and serve a USB storage device. No app required.
