Definitely a should-have for any toolbox, especially if you ever plan to even just swap an old outlet. And to double-check all your GFCIs, especially if they're old or it's a rental.

I have something similar (different manufacturer, same functionality/light patterns). Definitely worth it. You don't need the extra fancy model with an LCD screen to tell you what's going on, and also requires AA batteries for the screen.

You can install a GFCI outlet in that spot and it'll protect you. It doesn't need ground but still no surge
