Community Reviews
This Jamo bundle is a budget home theater setup that delivers a big upgrade over TV speakers and soundbars, especially for movies and full room sound. The towers and sub are the standout pieces, and the system pairs well with a decent receiver for a living room or larger TV setup. The center channel is the weakest link, and the Atmos upfiring speakers are hit or miss depending on room layout. It is a solid value if you want one kit to cover a whole room without chasing separate pieces.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. It is a strong home-theater package with full-room sound and a noticeable upgrade over TV speakers or a soundbar. It is better suited to movies and TV than music, and it still needs a decent receiver and subwoofer to perform well.
Yes, it needs a good receiver to drive the speakers properly. The bundle has been used successfully with Sony and WiiM Amp Pro setups, and pairing it with a decent receiver is key to getting the best results.
The Jamo set is a full 8-speaker tower-based home-theater system, while Energy Take 5 is a satellite package with a subwoofer and four bookshelf speakers. The Jamos cost more, but they provide more sound and a more immersive tower setup, especially if your room is not space-restricted.
The sub and center are the main weak points. The center can be made usable with receiver tuning, but the included sub may not deliver the deep, tactile bass many expect, so a better sub and center would improve the system.
The upfiring Atmos speakers are the weakest part of the kit and can range from a rarely used gimmick to effectively useless depending on room layout. They are the main drawback in an otherwise good-value package.

I think this series of speaker is decent value for the money, but this particular set comes up often at this price and is right where it should be for MSRP. The S81 center in this bundle has always felt particularly out of place next to the S809 towers. They really can't even throw in the *slightly* better S83 to try to help the center channel keep up a little more?
But a "good" sub and center alone cost more than this entire bundle unless you find some kind of great local used deal, so I see the appeal for someone who just wants to buy one kit and be done with it.
