I learned that there are clamps where the screw part has a spot you can tighten with a allen wrench or something to make tighter. I wonder if these have that

U can weld a large washer to the tightening bolt and use a screw driver or alignment tool to tight them. At work we weld large rings to ours. We get the rings from motors we replace on air handler units. The large rings are the lifting lugs used to remove and replace the electric motors.

Lol yeaa, I've never welded anything before since HS from like 80y ago.

I was thinking of just getting a bolt from the hardware store that's threaded in the same size 😂

CR-V construction is the least desirable. Basically 1 time use in my book. These do work well if you are needing something held while welding or make good "loaners" to those that never return. My thinking is if you are trying to remove a broken bolt/fastener, buying the cheapest set of locking pliers usually make a bad day, worse.

They're lower quality tools than the companies they clone, doesnt mean they aren't a good value. I prefer knipex but sometimes I can't justify the expense on them. I'd probably prefer icon tools if I were going to skimp on price because then you lifetime warranty and lots of local retailers but its hard to beat 5 vice grips for $17

Handy to know although so is 99% of other options regardless of what they advertise as or whether they were US owned/produced even 5 years ago. Sometimes it's not bad though if you just want a few cheap tools you can do stupid stuff with and not worry if you lose it or it gets damaged because you're doing stupid stuff with it. If I want high quality lifetime warranty tools I go to garage sales.
